Update: We’ve got official confirmation from @SplatoonNA on three of the returning weapons for Splatoon 3. The official Splatoon Twitter account has showcased the Splattershot, Splattershot Jr., and the .96 Gal, and it’s promised to share even more weapons further down the line.
Let’s take a look and remind ourselves of these three then, shall we?
Splattershot
The one we pretty much knew was coming back. This is the gun you see on all of the promotional artwork, the covers, Smash Ultimate, the amiibos… It’s simple but iconic.
First up is the tried-and-true Splattershot. Although some see this as an entry-level shooter, you’ll often find advanced players taking advantage of its capabilities. And the latest Splatsville iteration features a new frame that offers added resiliency and ease of maintenance. pic.twitter.com/CBk3Nc6jQ5— Splatoon North America (@SplatoonNA) May 2, 2022
Splattershot Jr.
Another that we probably all expected to see, given that it’s the tutorial weapon in the first two games. This little blaster has a quick firing rate, high ink efficiency, and its shot spread is pretty high too.
Next is the Splattershot Jr. Far from a child’s toy, this shooter rations ink like my grandparents ration stale candies! In other words, it may not be the strongest or most accurate weapon, but you can mash that ZR like you’re mashing potatoes. Huh. I must be hungry. pic.twitter.com/U68wsWJ8Mq— Splatoon North America (@SplatoonNA) May 2, 2022
.96 Gal
A high-damage, long-range weapon that’s less about speed and more about impact. We’ve seen this in some of the promo art for Splatoon 3 along with the Splattershot.
Snack acquired! Onward with science! This beauty is the .96 Gal—a high-impact, long-range weapon that packs a major punch. The ink tank has been modified to Splatlands specifications, and the barrel is sourced from a water-purification device. Talk about a clean shot! pic.twitter.com/0TuFVebLXa— Splatoon North America (@SplatoonNA) May 2, 2022
Original article: We’ve been getting a steady rush of info on Splatoon 3 ever since the release date dropped. Most of this has been focused on the game’s new weapons, such as the Triple Inkstrike and the Ink Vac. These new reveals, however, seem to have left fans asking after some of their old favourites from Splatoon 3’s predecessors.
Well, you won’t have to worry about whether your best weapon isn’t coming back anymore, as Nintendo of Europe has confirmed that every basic weapon from Splatoon and Splatoon 2 will be back for the sequel.
CONFIRMED: All the basic weapons from previous games will be returning for #Splatoon3! pic.twitter.com/XrhdG6Exgy— Nintendo of Europe (@NintendoEurope) May 2, 2022
Some fan favourite paint guns are featured in the brand new art that Nintendo shared with us today. A couple of notable returners are the N-ZAP, the Jet Squelcher, the Aerospray, and the Splattershot Pro.
We’re sure there are more returning guns, rollers, sloshers, etc. on the way, and we haven’t even named all of the ones in the above. In the meantime, the folks over at Splatoon Wiki have a list of all weapons in all three games, including which ones have been confirmed for the third entry. You can check out that list right here.
Have you spotted any other weapons? Perhaps check out our video at the top from last week, where we dissect the latest trailer. Let us know what you want to see in Splatoon 3 in the usual spot, too!
