Gaming Startup SuperGaming Raises $5.5 mln In Series A Funding Round

Gaming startup SuperGaming has raised $5.5 million in a Series A funding round led by Skycatcher to develop the next generation of video games. The funding round also counted with participation from investors like AET Fund, 1Up Ventures, BAce Capital, Dream Incubator, and Monish Darda.

Founded in 2018 by Roby John, Christelle D’cruz, Sreejit J, Navneet Waraich, and Sanket Nadhani, the startup has become one of India’s leading game developers. The new funding will help SuperGaming expand its global talent search by 60% with the aim of building out its publishing division, marketing existing games, and preparing for a battle royale game launch in early next year, Indus. About the investment in SuperGaming, Skycatcher’s Founder & Fund Manager Sia Kamalie said:

“India is easily the most exciting market for gaming in the next decade and is developing at an extraordinary pace. SuperGaming is well-positioned to capture both India and the global market. In our 3+ years of searching the Indian startup scene, SuperGaming was the only team that is building games by global standards.”

SuperGaming has gradually been taking the position of the leading game company in India and will utilize the funds to promote existing games and develop upcoming titles. Known as the publisher of world famous games such as MaskGun, Devil Amongst Us, and Tower Conquest, SuperGaming has focused on developing a game engine of its own to operate super-scale games with many real-time players including the official PAC-MAN game. AET Fund Partner and Board Member, Yuki Kawamura expressed his opinion on SuperGaming and its market:

“Gaming in India is witnessing accelerated growth, and SuperGaming is well poised to leverage it to begin their next phase of expansion. As an early investor, we are thrilled to contribute to this round and remain bullish about the founding teams’ vision especially with the impressive growth of Devil Amongst Us and the first real Battle Royale built in India.”

MaskGun, one of the games developed by the gaming startup, has surpassed 50 million installations while Devil Amongst Us achieved 10 million installs after only 4 months of launch. The startup has also developed Bored, a platform for remote teams which is used in over 2500 Slack workspaces across many countries such as the US, UK, Europe, and India.
