Creatures of the Night
by Grace Collins
Publisher: Wattpad Books
Release Date: July 13th 2021
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy, Romance, Paranormal
Make your way home at five. Be in the tunnels as the sun begins to fall. Seal the entrance. Leave enough room for malfunction. These are the rules I grew up with, the ones I never dared to break. Until now.
Milena’s twentieth birthday, the day she would join the ranks of her village’s hunters, should have been the most exciting day of her life. Being a hunter meant she would be able to help protect her village from the murderous wolves who take human form—the creatures of the night. But a chance encounter with Elias, the enigmatic leader of the creatures, leaves her questioning everything she has ever believed to be true.
Up until now, Elias has managed to protect the creatures of the night and keep the secrets of his past well hidden. Now, as tensions between the groups grow, Elias is forced to make hard decisions: ones that will cost lives. Nobody is safe, especially Milena, the person he is inexplicably drawn to even though it could destroy them both.

And now, a Books, Tea, Healthy Me exclusive interview with Grace Collins
Is there something special about the book you are currently promoting that you want everyone to know? Your inspiration maybe? A fun hidden fact?
One of the biggest inspirations while writing this book was a song. For some reason, when I listened to the song Ether (Silent Partner), I couldn’t stop writing. I have no idea why!
From where do you get your ideas for your books?
For me, all my ideas start from a craving to read something but not being able to find anything that fits what I want. From there, I get inspiration from listening to music, watching TV, or reading books. Not only am I able to identify tropes and characters that I like, but also ones I don’t.
Where do you begin when you develop new characters? Physical characteristics, personality, plot? What comes first and how do you go from there?
I usually come up with a rough idea for a story and then start to write with no plan. If I decide that I like the story and where it’s going, I sit down and plan it out. In terms of characters, I don’t really plan them at all. They don’t feel authentic to me if I’ve planned them out on a document. I just write them in a way that feels true to that character and fix inconsistencies later when editing.
Does writing exhaust or energize you? Why?
Writing the beginning of a book is always exciting and leaves me feeling energised, but around the 3/4 mark is where it starts to get draining!
What is your writing kryptonite? And what is the cure?
Perfectionism. The beauty about first drafts is that they don’t need to be perfect, but I have so far been incapable of moving on from a scene if I’m not 100% happy with it. I will go back and edit it until it’s something that I like, and only then can I continue writing. I’m yet to find a cure but my writing process would be significantly faster if I found one!
What book are you reading right now?
I’m currently reading The Guest List by Lucy Foley.
What do you do to keep yourself healthy? What is your #1 healthy lifestyle tip?
My favourite word when it comes to health is moderation! I believe you can eat almost anything, and if it’s in moderation, you can still be healthy. I’ve always loved team sports or tramping as a way to keep healthy, too, even if I don’t really have the time for it right now!
What is your go-to recipe when you cook at home? It doesn’t have to be healthy – just yummy.
I’m still a full-time University student so I don’t have a lot of time. Therefore, my go-to will always be pasta with a homemade tomato & basil sauce. Quick, easy and cheap!
