Spurs are unlikely to complete the signing of Granada defender Domingos Duarte this summer, according to reports in Spain.
The Premier League side are still attempting to sign another centre-back this summer with numerous options linked over the past few months.
A deal for Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has been mooted for months with a deal understood to have been agreed with the player a long time ago.

However, reports have indicated that the main stumbling block is currently over the £17m fee and how Spurs will structure that deal.
Granada defender Duarte is now understood to be an option with the Portugal international having a release clause of €30m.
However, Onda Vasca (via Sport Witness) claim that Tottenham made a ‘derisory’ first offer for the centre-back worth €8m with the website giving them a ‘slim’ chance of signing Duarte unless they ‘lose their mind’ and ‘add a lot’ to their initial bid.
Spanish publication AS confirms that Spurs made an opening bid this week but insists ‘there has been no news’ since.
Meanwhile, Nuno Espirito Santo was pleased to have Harry Kane on the pitch as he scored a brace in Tottenham’s 3-0 win over Pacos de Ferreira in the Europa Conference League play-off on Thursday.
“I see Harry every day since he joined us, every day. He doesn’t have to prove (anything) to anyone,” Nuno said. “He’s committed. You can see.
“All the situations that have happened, are part of the past, let’s look and move forward, but I see him every day.
“I saw him today in the training sessions. I saw him today at the end of the game, now it is time to recover. He is one more that will help us.
“He played good, he scored, he had good movements, he helped the team in possession, out of possession kept his shape, helped recover the ball.
“He is still improving. But playing is the best way for all players to improve, to compete and the edge of the game is what takes players beyond their limits and that is what we expect from all of them.”
On the Spurs fans, Nuno added: “It was good, our fans are amazing. The support they give for all of us.
“Even in the training session we had here, the energy you can see.
“This is what we want, this bond for them to enjoy. (To see) we give everything we have, from the stands. Creating this energy is good for us.”
